YOUR KEYS, YOUR SESSION

Mac keyboard tester privacy and local data handling

The testing tools process key events in your browser tab. This page explains what is kept for a session, what can be saved locally and what a website visit involves.

01

Keyboard events stay in the current browser session

The tools use keyboard events to show pressed keys, event history, counters and practice results. Session events remain in page memory and are cleared when you reset or leave the page. The site does not send your tested keystrokes to an application server.

02

Local preferences and optional result downloads

Display preferences may be stored with localStorage on your device so the interface can remember a choice. You can remove them through your browser’s site-data controls. Copying or downloading a report creates a local copy of session results. The event inspector’s JSON and CSV reports can contain raw key values, typed text and input-method composition text. Review and remove sensitive content before sharing.

03

Hosting requests and site analytics

This version does not include an analytics script or an advertising tracker. Visiting the site still requires normal requests to the hosting service, which may process network information such as your IP address and user agent under its own infrastructure policies.

04

Use a keyboard tester without entering sensitive information

Use sample keys and practice text. Avoid typing passwords or private content into a testing session, especially before exporting or sharing a report. A testing tool does not require account credentials.

05

Privacy questions and changes

The contact page provides a local report template for describing questions about the site. This policy describes the current implementation and should be reviewed if data handling or external services change.

More answers
Does Mac Keyboard Test record everything I type on my computer?+

No. A web page receives input directed to it while it has focus. This site does not install a system-wide keyboard monitor.

How do I delete saved preferences?+

Clear site data for mackeyboardtest.com in your browser. Resetting a test clears its in-memory session; browser site-data controls remove locally saved preferences.
